Rope Draw
Rope is a very common tool when it comes to video games whether it's an environmental object or something you carry with you and it's even got a place in puzzles like Rope Draw. As an aspiring artist learning about line art and angles, you've stumbled onto a tool that lets you rearrange pieces of rope into different patterns. The challenge is that you need to make sure that your line work is clean and direct so that the ropes make a pleasing shape that doesn't overlap into a mess to get all tangled up. Rope art is making a stand.
About Rope Draw
There's the simple joy in recreational activities, especially when they involve recreating things. This game is kind of a statement on art where a good way to learn basic techniques is to look at completed pieces and try to recreate them in your style. The main difference here is that the medium is rope and there's only so much you can do when you're limiting yourself to straight and angular shapes while keeping the board clean. It's like trying to put together with pre-cut scraps of paper and sometimes that can lead to some amazing work or some sort of expression about minimalism.
How to Play
Rope Draw is a 2D puzzle game about arranging ropes in different patterns by using the mouse. The cursor can navigate across the board and then you can click the Left Mouse Button on a section of rope. You can then hold it and drag it to where you want it. The goal of each level is to arrange the rope(s) in the same pattern shown at the top of the screen in as few moves as possible.
Each level starts you off with one or multiple ropes placed in different formations on a board with holes. These holes are used to place pegs for the different sections of rope. Each rope starts with a set number of pegs holding it in place. These pegs can't be removed, but you can drag different sections of rope and then secure them in the various holes on the board. The limitations come in that ropes aren't allowed to intersect or pass over space that has no holes.
You're free to grab any section of rope and make any move as long as it's viable. You can even attach a section of rope to a peg that's already in place. Still, once a peg has been placed, it can't be moved again. If you make a mistake, you can click the undo button at the bottom of the screen to undo your last move. For multiple mistakes, you can reset the level if need be.
After you complete 40 levels, you'll unlock Fun Mode. This will let you unleash your creative rope ideas within the game.
Tips and Tricks
As far as puzzle games go, this one is very relaxed so you're free to take your time and think about your moves. As you look at the arrangement that you're supposed to copy, start with the outer parts and then work your way into the center of the pattern.
