Rummikub
Some games can cause confusion the moment that you look at them but then things fall into place after a little while like the tiles in Rummikub. Fitting into a type of game similar to Dominoes and Mahjong, this game is all about trying to bring order to the chaos. You'll be working with a lot of numbers, but thankfully will not have to rely on incredible math skills to win the game. You have plenty of options to work with as you try to win by using your own pieces as well as those of your opponent to ensure your victory.
About Rummikub
Tiles may not be as popular or well-known as card and board games, but they still have plenty of value. Almost all of these types of games are based on taking your time and trying to predict what's going to happen next, sort of like Chess. The sense of competition is an underlying intensity as you think over your own pieces and watch as your opponents play their next moves. Every time a move is made, the field of play can change significantly and you need to be able to adapt if you want to stay in the game.
How to Play
Rummikub is an interesting game that may seem a bit unclear at first, but all you need is the mouse to understand and play it. Each player gets a set of 14 tiles with numbers ranging from one to twelve. The goal is to be the first player to get rid of your tiles. Once the turn order is decided, you need to make sure that your opening move adds up to more than 30.
As soon as your tiles are dealt out, you can click on the 777 or 789 buttons on the right side to arrange them into different arrangements. 777 places all tiles with the same number (but different colors) in the same groups while 789 places tiles into groups of sequential order (these tiles can be the same color). If there's a place on the board, you can click and hold the leftmost tile of a group to place the whole group on the board. If you have no tiles to play, you can draw an additional tile by clicking the + button on the right side.
A big part of the game is using other players' tiles to your advantage. If you can move one of their tiles to an empty space, you can then fill the space with tiles to complete the sequence or match the number. If you see a face tile, this is a wild tile that can fill any spot but can also be replaced by the tile it's replacing (eg. A face tile in the sequence 7, 8, face, 10, can be replaced by a 9 tile).
Tips and Tricks
This game will likely take a few matches to get the hang of, so spend some time playing and learning. You can take as much time as you want on your turn which means you can clearly survey the board. Make use of the 777 and 789 buttons to keep your tiles organized.
