Ultimate Noughts & Crosses
Everyone knows Tic-tac-toe, but some may know it better by its other name, Noughts and Crosses, so this is Ultimate Noughts & Crosses. The main issue with this game at its base is if you're playing on average, chances are that the game is going to end in a draw. There are only so many tricks you can learn before you get stonewalled. That's where the ultimate comes into the picture where you can transform the game into a whole new level of strategy. You're playing several games at once that in themselves make up a much bigger game. It's here where you start to see this constant-draw game in a whole new light.
About Ultimate Noughts & Crosses
You may not have heard of this version of the game but it has been around for a fair amount of time by now. This game shows you the ropes of this version and then throws you into whatever kind of match you want to try. It's all about thinking of the game as part of the bigger picture and you can't just mindlessly make moves. Each move you make changes your opponent's moves which in turn change your moves. From here, you need to start thinking similarly as you would in a chess game, and therein lives renewed challenge and interest for a pretty simple game.
How to Play
Ultimate Noughts & Crosses is a 2D competitive puzzle game that can be played only with the mouse, both in single-player and two-player matches. To mark a square, simply move the cursor over to it and click the Left Mouse Button. Once you do, the turn shifts to the other opponent to make their move. The goal is to win the large version of the game by winning smaller games to claim one of the large squares as your own. The first to get three of their marks in a line wins the game.
The game opens up with a quick tutorial of the game to show you how it works. You have a large three-by-three board with each square having a smaller three-by-three board within it. Crosses will go first and based on the square within the small board that they mark, the opponent will be forced to play in the board corresponding to the position marked, and vice versa. When a player wins on one of the small boards, it will be replaced by their mark on the large board. When three of the same marks are lined up, the game ends.
Tips and Tricks
This is a tricker version of the classic game, that requires much more thought. Like Chess, you should take your time before making any moves since you're essentially controlling how your opponent plays. You need to focus on setting up multiple paths to victory.
